I bought this a couple months ago and it has been great. Good on the mountain terrain. Great all around bike for intermediate mountain biking. Wasn't thinking I would progress to such aggressive riding so quick. This was a little rough on single track terrain. Had some minor issues, but this bike can still go pretty hard. Great on roads also. Quality bike for the price.

      Comments:

The Specialized Hardrock Sport Disc 29er is a beautiful bicycle. A mechanic at my local shop recommended checking this bike even though the price point was higher than the other 4 bikes I considered. I have not purchased a new bike in two decades - I've been happy riding a vintage mtb, mostly around villages and cities - for exercise, light to medium off-road. After the gears finally gave out I decided to get something new. I couldn't be happier with this ride. It's a big step up in terms of technology and for going a bit over initial budget the cost/value ratio improved significantly. The 29" wheels make riding a blast, the bike also includes hydraulic brakes, 24 speeds, and, for me, very decent geometry. If your goal is to crush Concussion Canyon maybe this isn't your bike. However, for massive fun, fitness, paths, beaches, light to medium off road challenges consider the Hard Rock Sport Disc.

Great beginner bike, well put together and great value. I purchased this bike to get me in the sport and to get in better shape because gyms bore the heck out of me ! So far have been loving it so much I have started to hit trails and I'm getting hooked! Really good bike especially for beginner trails just add gripper tires, lock-on grips and clip-ons on you have a capable trail bike.

        Comments:

I road a lot of bikes before buying this one and for my use (beginner, exercise, fun, trails) and budget (less than 800.00 including a helmet and some gear) I enjoyed this one the most. I was going to buy the Trek Mamba (over budget) but after reading about this bike I decided to ride it before making a final decision and I'm glad I did. The geometry is similar and components for 300.00 less, so with specialized reputation for building quality products and at that value it was an easy decision. Bottom line you won't know what works for you until you ride it. I left the shop with the bike and went straight to a 2.75 mile aggressive trail ride. I was riding with two, more experienced riders so I pushed a little harder then had they not been there and the bike impressed me. It handled well In the quick switch backs, down hill, climbing. The chain came off once but that was rider error. I have rode a few miles on the road and it is pretty fast on the road too. (Not road bike fast but fast for a MTB) From the view point of a beginner, this is a great MTB.

        Comments:

Been a life long rider, but haven't been riding for a few years due to an injury and lack of interest. Decided to get back into the sport with this 29" model after test riding it. Simply amazed by how much more efficient the larger 29" rims make the bike feel. Combined with the locking front fork, this bike tears up the roadways. Night and day from my previous bike, which was a full suspension 26" model.I've had a chance to take it up Galby a few times now and I can say I'm generally impressed. Climbs fantastic. First time I've been able to pedal the whole way up. Gear ratios feel right on for my style of riding. Not the lightest thing on the trail, but not a challenge either. The 29" tires make a big difference when trying to negotiate the low speed technical stuff. Feels much more stable.I was a little disappointed with the shock on the descent. Has a hard time handling what I would consider a fairly easy trail (Upper and Lower Bobs). Feels like I'm going to bash it to death. Definitely going to be the first upgrade. But for the price, I can't complain too much. It's an entry level shock for an entry level bike. Other than that, bike worked well. Chain didn't get knocked off. Brakes worked well enough. Frame didn't seem to flex too much on the drops.Overall, great product for what it is. I'd recommend for anyone trying to get back into the sport. This bike will get you where you need to go and keep you interested until you can afford an upgrade.

            Comments:

This is my first mountain bike, my wife bought it for me for Christmas though I picked it out. I started just riding once a week and now I am riding 5 days a week as I am definitely hooked. The Hardrock 29 Sport Disc has been a great starter bike for me. It was a lot of bang for the buck, and a great bike for me because I didn't know if I would really us it or not. It has worked wonderfully for me so far, with my only real complaints being the pedals and the rear brakes. They brakes take a lot of maintenance to keep them from being noisy, and they return to noisy very quickly. My pedals broke pretty quickly which was fine because I am now switching to clipless pedals. Now that I am more into mountain biking on rough terrain, I want to upgrade the tires, but the original ones have been adequate. I am starting to feel the limitations of my front shock when jumping, and it may be due to how I have it set. Bottom line, I highly recommend this bike. Especially for someone who is just getting into the sport and wants to start off with a really nice bike.
